Looks like flash? Nope, that is only done by using Adobe Photoshop! You also can make it without flash knowledge! Lets get it done now.

Paste the loading graphic which you have created from Illustrator into Photoshop or create it by using Photoshop. You may download mine one too. Open up your Animation panel which located at, Window > Animation.

Make sure the ” cube ” sliced in three different layers, named it sliceTop, sliceLeft, sliceRight, and each slice filled with light grey color, middle grey color and dark grey color.

Now, make sure you have hided the sliceTop and sliceLeft layers. We start animate from sliceRight.

At frame 1, set the sliceRight opacity to 10%. Following to frame 2 - 20%, frame 3 - 30%, frame 4 - 40% until frame 10 - 100%.

Now, unhide sliceLeft, start from frame11, doing exactly same thing to what we have done with sliceRight, until frame20.

Following to sliceTop, doing the same thing too, as sliceLeft and sliceRight, until frame30.

Now, you have created 30 frames, which mean, one round of complete animation done. You may check out the effect by clicking on the play button at animation panel. It seems not smooth rite? Ok now, select all the 30 frames, duplicate by holding ALT key. Now you have 2 set of animated cube in 60 frames.

Select the last 30 frames ( set 2 ) that you just created. We are going to reverse the frames of the animation. Click on the button which located at the right top of animation panel, choose Reverse Frames.

Click on play button again, is that animated smoothly now? Select frame no.30, set the time to 0.5s.

Congratulate, you have done the animation! But, how do you export it out so that can be used in your applications or web? Let me show you. Select File > Save for Web & Devices…

Follow the setting that showing you in the screenshot above, then click save.

You have done it! Is that difficult? Easy rite? Now you may try to draw out different graphic elements to animate! Have fun~

Stylish icons have been designed for one of the Exabytes’ product. Each icon has its representative. Draw out using illustrator only without photoshop touch up.

Tone / Toning is playing an important rules in creating 3D look object. If you tone in the right way ( follow where the light from ), and create a right way of shadow, to draw 3D look object is not your problem again.

Next post I will show you how to scale the icons standing in perspective way and looks real.

In conjunction of the HITB SecConf2008 Malaysia, a wallpaper has been created by me by using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop only.

First, use Illustrator to draw out the 3D cube, ” slice out ” the ” H ” shape from the cube. After that move to Photoshop, add in green smoke, generated by using Cloud effect. Use Free Transform Tool at Illustrator to scale the HITB 2008 wording until it has the feel which is ” lying down on the floor “. Apply some brush effect for the scratch part. Join up with the cube and add in shadow for the cube.

I use lining box to present the Cubical Identity, by blending from smallest lining box to biggest lining box. After that scale it by using Free Transform Tool in Illustrator, a very powerful tool in creating 3D object.

DefCraft established by its team. I’ve become the only designer who handle on their CIS ( Corporate Identity System ), Website, Profile and so on.

Their corporate colors are Black and Red. The logo I’ve created, base on ” strong and tough ” concept. Why? DefCraft is an information security consulting company, their identity have to be strong so that only can build trust in between.

I have created a short movie commercial for my company private screening movie, X-FILES on 3 Aug 208 ago. Me and one of my college, have permission to get into GSC cinema projecting room. That is the second time I enter the room. We brought our own projector to project the commercial, all successfully done!

Black + Dark blue in toning, add in noise effect, after that apply motion blur on it, apply blending mode ” Linear Light ” which located at layer pallet there to make grow effect.

Insert the server image, duplicate it, flip vertical, apply vector mask and apply black and white gradient on it, here you will get the reflection shadow of the server.

Christmas e-card from Exabytes, 2007. I purposely design the size longer. Idea is, create two stories at above and bottom, but a linking stories. Look at the reindeer first ( at above ), it is standing on the roof, finding his ” father ” who is Santa. So where is the Santa? He might be felt down into the house through the chimney. So, that will indirectly make you scroll down to find the Santa too! In the middle, wishes and messages there, after that, found Santa. Yeah! Here he is! Inside the house already and wish you a Merry Christmas with his presents in warming environment.
